Our buckwheat honey is a dark monofloral honey made by bees from the nectar of buckwheat flower. Buckwheat is culinarily used in place of wheat, but buckwheat isn't a type of grass, and is not related to wheat. It is related to sorrel, knotweed, and rhubarb. Therefore, buckwheat is also free of gluten.
Buckwheat flowers have dark nectar, even though its petals are white, which produces its rich dark color of the honey. This dark color is also the sign of its high level of antioxidants present in the honey. We pride ourselves in the purity of our buckwheat honey by placing the beehives in the middle of large buckwheat fields, and thus producing much darker honey than you would typically see on the market.
One study from the University of Illinois found buckwheat honey with tea increased antioxidant levels in the body. And a meta-study on honey showed that it has the highest levels of antioxidants among all types of honey.
Honey is well known to help protect your skin and to hydrate your skin. This is why we've formulated our own face mask with our buckwheat honey!
Soothes Your Throat
The research team found honey to be a more effective cough suppressant compared to over-the-counter medicine which was published in the journal, Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine. Honey did a better job reducing the severity, frequency, and bothersome nature of nighttime cough from an upper respiratory infection.
Since over-the-counter medicine is not recommended for children under 6 years old, due to its lack of effectiveness and side effects, honey is the better solution when it comes to alleviating coughs for children.
This study used buckwheat honey, it is the sought-after remedy for cold symptoms. For a child with a cold, the American Academy of Family Physicians recommends the following doses:
- children ages 2 to 5: 2.5mL

Excellent Local product
This is excellent product while assisting local Ontario producers.
Love that I can get a better price when I buy this honey in a pack of 3 compared to on Amazon. Great quality, delicious, and healthy.
Excellent raw honey
It is difficult to find raw honey in the region where I live. I found One Root on internet and ordered a three pack of raw honey. Excellent and quick shipping with very secure packaging. Part of this raw honey is used to make: HONEY FERMENTED GARLIC, which is very healthy and has medicinal properties. You can find recipes on YouTube on how to do it. I am glad that I found One Root, I will certainly buy again.
Excellent Honey and supplier
Truly amazing, I am enjoying the Honey. Must say that I have never seen such secure packaging. Delivery was very good too. Thank you.
Bought 3 jars will buy again. I take a table soon in morning and afternoon. Also use table spoon in tea. I like the fact it remains liquid.
