OUR STORY
It all comes from the Boreal Forest.
Single-source honey from the Canadian Boreal Forest: remote, unfarmed, and cold. What isn’t there is the point, no cities, no conventional farms, none of the spraying that comes with them. Remote northern geography is our quality control, and it is why every jar traces to one region, one floral source, one harvest.
How we work
From forest to jar, the chain is short and we control all of it:
Proof, not promises
We said we test it. Here are the results.
Every harvest goes to an independent laboratory, including the University of Guelph, and is tested for antibiotics, pesticides and glyphosate before a single jar is sold. The results come back non-detected, and we publish them. Open the certificate of analysis for the honey you're holding and read exactly what we read.
Certified Organic (our Organic Wildflower), Kosher, and CFIA SFCR, the paperwork behind the promises.
The family behind it
It started in a bee yard in Korea, fifty years ago.
Fifty years of beekeeping, two countries, one root.
You've probably stood in a kitchen holding a jar of honey that told you almost nothing. 'Pure.' 'Natural.' 'Product of…' followed by a list of countries. Most honey is blended from many sources in many places, and the label is vague because it has to be.
Ours can tell you exactly where it comes from, which region, which floral source, which year's harvest, and show you the lab results to match. Not because we're clever about marketing. Because of how this company was built, vague was never an option.
That takes some explaining, and the explanation is a family story.
The timeline
-
1970s
A bee yard in Korea
My father began keeping bees in Korea in the 1970s. There were no books to learn from, so he taught himself, and when the bees did something he didn’t understand, he slept in the bee yard until he did. He eventually got good enough that Korean universities invited him to lecture on beekeeping. The way he learned, patiently, up close, without shortcuts, is still how this family keeps bees.

1995
Starting over in Canada
In 1995 he immigrated to Canada. A new country and a new language made it a slow restart. He began again the way he knew how: selling ginseng and honey through small health food stores, earning shelf space one owner at a time.
-
2015
OneRoot
I joined my father in 2015, and together we created OneRoot, a brand with one deliberately narrow focus: raw, unadulterated honey from the Canadian Boreal Forest. Single source, never blended. Never heated past the natural temperature of a beehive. The Boreal Forest matters because of what isn’t there, no cities, no conventional farms, none of the spraying that comes with them. Remote northern geography is our quality control.

2016
Whole Foods
The next year, OneRoot went onto the shelves of Whole Foods Market and the organic grocers around Toronto, the same kind of stores where my father had started two decades earlier, now carrying a honey with our family’s standard behind it.

2020
#1 on Amazon Canada
In 2020, OneRoot became the #1 raw honey brand on Amazon Canada. There was no big campaign behind that. It happened the slow way, people tried it, reordered it, and told someone else.

Today
Canada · United States · Japan · Korea
OneRoot now ships across Canada, the United States, Japan and Korea. The honey still comes from remote northern Canada, harvested once a year, and the business still supports the local farmers and remote northern communities it works with. My father set the standard. My job is to never lower it.

Why "OneRoot"
The name is a claim. Every jar we sell traces to one root: one region, one floral source, one annual harvest. Most honey is a blend of many origins, made to taste identical every time. Ours never is, which is why your jar can taste subtly different from last year's. That isn't inconsistency. That's the same forest, responding to a different year.
What customers say
2,884 verified Shopper Approved reviews · 4.9★ · 98% recommended
“This honey has been my favorite for over 20 years. I give it as gifts like others give wine. I always get delighted responses.”
“I have tried many different brands of Buckwheat honey (which I eat almost every day in my oatmeal), and this is the best! The consistency and taste can’t be beat. It may be a bit more expensive than some brands, but it is worth it.”
The part that actually convinces people
The story only matters if the honey delivers. The first thing people mention isn’t the forest or the lab results, it’s the taste. “I had no idea what real honey tasted like until I tried this” appears in our reviews again and again, in almost exactly those words. Fifty years went into that sentence.
